Nkechi Anyanwu Brodie, CNM
Nkechi Anyanwu Brodie, CNM is one of the certified nurse midwives at Providence Women’s Healthcare. Nkechi is an expert in full scope midwifery care and has considerable experience in natural pregnancy and unmedicated birth. Nkechi believes that all women deserve the right to holistic care, and education & shared decision making with regard to their personal health. In her opinion, birth is a natural process that warrants provider facilitation and patient ownership in the direction of care.
Nkechi comes from a long line of midwives who have been practicing in Nigeria for generations. As a child, she heard stories of how her grandmother and great aunts served as midwives in their community and watched her aunt act as the primary OB provider for women in the village who had no access to hospital care. Coming from a rich history of midwives and nurses, her becoming a midwife was almost inevitable.
In 2016 Nkechi completed her midwifery and women’s health nurse practitioner training at San Diego State University. She also holds degrees from UCLA, and Georgia State University. Prior to becoming a certified nurse midwife, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 5 years.
When not serving clients, Nkechi enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, sewing, or curled up with a good book. Fun fact: in order to help finance her first college degree Nkechi would regularly act as an extra in television shows and movies. If you were a fan of the 90s/early aughts era show “ER”, chances are you have seen her face!
